Taps
By David W Sweet
It’s a sunny day in the jungle. The animals are gathering for an important meeting. A truce has been called for the betterment of all. Lookouts have been posted on the perimeters. Signals will be given should the man-hunters approach. It’s not a happy day.

Spirit
Diamond Belle
Ranch
By David W Sweet
Nature is abundant: the birds are obvious. The rest is a feeling pouring in, surrounding, comforting, and nurturing.
How is it that this place so opens the heart? How gently the spirit attaches and soothes . . . What power calls forth such pure goodness?

Forests
By David W Sweet
Walk through this forest slowly, softly;
Like giant mushrooms the trees dot the landscape.
The stalks are long,
Somewhere toward the sky are the tops.
It is as if we, the humans, are the tiny creatures.
Keep walking, quietly now, take it all in.

The Sea . . .
“a cleansing of the soul”
By David W Sweet
The sea is quiet . . . between tides.
It’s a good time to visit.
The winds are still,
The smell of freshness will fill your lungs;
These are the times to lift your spirit.
The sea is willing and, for this purpose,
Will take your burdens
and diminish your heartaches.
It asks nothing.

Omen—30°
By David W Sweet

and stubborn conviction to unsettle, the Earth had been torn
by violent man’s mettle.

Reminder
By David W Sweet
Imagine you’re on the trail—carefree and at one with nature—and with every step comes
a growing sense of peace. The sun is bathing the forest, showering it with warmth as if to
signal your arrival and to welcome your journey. The air is clear and clean, and your
breath comes with ease as you start taking it all in.

Fall Thoughts
By David W Sweet
The last leaves are holding on
Way beyond the others.
The winds come,
The rain,
They’re still there,
Beautiful reds and golds
Hanging on to the very end
Almost beyond their time.
Isn’t Nature supposed to know?
